Disclosure: As a reminder I don't go back and correct any mental errors while writing because that is true to how my brain works with living with epilepsy. In order to understand this by someone just joining, one example at times I might speak a sentences out oforder, or repeat them, spelling.

I thought it was just another day of pain....

I have been dealing with shoulder pain since about January, it's the extent of it. Living with epilepsy, fibromyalgia, and at times experienceing seizure falls I didn't think anything of it. I assumed it would eventually get tollerable. Afterall I have a high pain tolerance. Surely I was just sleeping on it wrong, or a nocturnal seizure activated the pain. That wasn't the case this time. I was icing daily, stretching, doing all I was supposed to do, besides stopping activity. So Brent had me go see an Orthopedic fir testing. The doctor said it appeared to be Arthritis and bursitis in my shoulder joint, and potentially in my Labrum area. So they gave me my first Cortisone shot in March and no improvement. Again, I just thought it needed more time. The pain was not going away, so another cortizone shot, again no help. Then my August follow up my DR. decided I needed a MRI of my shoulder for potential rotator cuff tear. Unfortunately; with my RNS device I am not able to have MRI. We had to explain why, it is an implant in my brain and cannot be placed in a MRI machine. He said ok, then I am going to request you have a CTOrthoScan but at the hospital for safety. I was able to have one done on September 17th(let's just say that was a rough day), Brent can explain more as I don't remember all of it. My follow up for results was on the 24th. Sure enough the dye went right through my tendon, showing full rotator cuff tear and potential cervicle complication too.

What would the next steps be?

The dr referred me to an Orthopedic Surgeon at Andrew's Institute. So October 1st I got in, and they did some pulling and some other tests in the office all which did not feel well. However; the surgeon isn't convinced it is a total tear. He said yes the image from the CT shows dye went through but without an actual MRI there is no guarantee that is all it is. Brent asked so do you feel surgery is the right direction. The Orthopedic surgeon said yes she needs surgery, the question is once we are in what all will be done.

Diagnosis for surgery, what type & when?

Now if you understand these exact medical terms, more power to you:)

Diagnosis: "Right Shoulder arthroscopy with debridement, subacromial decompression, distal clavicle excision, possible rotator cuff repair not sure if partial or full tear, and any other indicated procedures once inside." I see the picture and try to understand it, basically all I heard was you need surgery sooner rather than later.

Best case scernio: If NOT a full rotator cuff tear you will have 1 week in a sling and most likely 3 months of PT.

Worst case scernio: If a FULL rotator cuff tear and you will be in a sling for 2-3 months and then another 3 months of PT

No matter which case you will need to start PT within 3 days after your surgery to get that joint moving. So let's get you scheduled!

Steps needed prior to surgery due to having My Glitch

The surgery got scheduled for October 9th. However; I need a signed clearance form from my Mayo Clinic Nuerologist to be cleared to have this type of surgery. Surgeon needs all my past medical papers(good luck reading all of that doc). Due to my uncontrolled seizures along with previous surgeries I have had complications with anthesia. They will have a designated anesthesiologist and nuerologist inside with the orthopedic surgery staff during the surgery. This should be an outpatient surgery, we will assume that will happen. Let's just say I seem to always fall in the 1 in a million chance of the exception:)

YES, Brent got that lucky!!

AS OF TODAY OCTOBER 3RD,

NO FORM HAS BEEN FAXED BACK.

ALL THESES DETAILS NEEDED

FOR SURGERY TO HAPPEN.

SO STAY TUNED...........
